Pole Position for Premium and Security Labeling: LEONHARD KURZ Presents Innovative Security and Design Elements for Wine Labels with TRUSTSEAL® Technology at ProWein 2025

At ProWein 2025, taking place from March 16 to 18, in Düsseldorf, LEONHARD KURZ will present innovative solutions that seamlessly combine security features and design.

Fürth/Germany, March 11, 2025: The demands on wine labels are constantly evolving. While aesthetics and brand communication remain key, functional aspects are becoming increasingly important. Premium wines require labels that not only create visual appeal but also provide protection against counterfeiting and unauthorized reproduction. At ProWein 2025, taking place from March 16 to 18, in Düsseldorf, LEONHARD KURZ will present innovative solutions that seamlessly combine security features and design. At the heart of this presentation is an exclusive collaboration with Willi Opitz. The renowned, internationally active winemaker and consultant in the fields of production, presentation, and positioning has gained worldwide recognition with his multiple award-winning wines – among other achievements, as a winemaking consultant at the Cornwall-based Star Castle Hotel, which belongs to the British royal family. For years, he has been supplying various Formula 1 teams and is a passionate fan of the entire Formula 1 universe. He has been honored with the “Winemaker of the Year” award in London. Additionally, since the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, he has been an official supplier to the Austria House at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Wine Labels as Brand Ambassadors: Merging Motorsport and Vinification

At booth A36 in hall 4, KURZ will showcase a newly developed, high-end wine label for the Pole Position series that reflects both Willi Opitz’s passion for motorsports and the excellence of his wines. The concept is based on a narrative-driven brand communication, incorporating core attributes of racing – precision, dynamism, and innovation – as well as the security aspect into the wine’s visual language. Metallic accents and holographic flag motifs echo the aesthetics of motorsports, creating a unique brand identity. Through intentional design integration, the label goes beyond being just an informational carrier – it becomes a distinguishing feature that highlights the product’s premium quality.

Customized Security Features with TRUSTSEAL® Technology

As expectations in terms of wine label design and aesthetics continue to rise, so does the demand for integrated security features. Premium wines are increasingly targeted by counterfeiters, and conventional protective mechanisms like embossed printing are often insufficient. KURZ has developed solutions that address this challenge by incorporating security features as an integral part of the label. By combining state-of-the-art thin-film technologies with sophisticated design aesthetics, KURZ creates labels that not only stand out visually but also provide effective protection against tampering.

The design developed in cooperation with Willi Opitz for the Pole Position series uses TRUSTSEAL® security features to combine forgery-proof marking with aesthetic depth effects. The use of diffractive structures creates a striking visual dynamic that appears different depending on the viewing angle – the dark elements light up in green when tilted over the horizontal axis. The label combines various optical effects that create a three-dimensional perception.
Additionally, dynamic and static “grayscale” elements, which change in brightness when tilted to the right, further enhance the different components of the security label.

A key advantage of TRUSTSEAL® technology is its customized development and production – each security element is unique and exclusive to the respective client. This makes it significantly more difficult for counterfeiters to replicate the design while ensuring seamless and resource-efficient integration into the production process.
